22nd Palmer Cup Matches

The Palmer Cup is an annual match contested at Latrobe Country Club consisting of ten individual matches in the morning and seven four-ball matches in the afternoon between Western Pennsylvania Golf Association Amateurs and Tri-State PGA Section Professionals.  The WPGA team is sponsored by Frank B.Fuhrer.  Four-ball teams are composed of the ten selected individuals from the morning match play plus two additional senior teams (age 50-54 team and a 55 & above team).  The Palmer Cup is by invitation only.

Selection for the WPGA Frank B. Fuhrer Team is as follows:

Individual Match Play & Men's Four-Ball: The top eight players on the WPGA Men's Honor Roll as of August 29, 2017 are extended an invitation to the team.  Two committee selections will be made to complete the team. *Points accrued in 2016 for the US Mid-Am, US Amateur Four-Ball, PA Middle-Amateur, WPGA Four-Ball and WPGA Mid-Am will be added to players 2017 point totals at the applicable selection dates.

Senior Four-Ball (age 55 & above): The top senior player on the WPGA Senior Honor Roll as of August 22, 2017 will be extended an invitation to the team.  An additional senior invitation will be extended to the senior that has not been extended an invitation with the highest Senior Honor Roll points as of August 31, 2017.

Senior Four-Ball (ages 50-54): Two selections will be made by the committee on August 31, 2017.

The WPGA reserves the right to forgo a player invitation,even if the meets the invitation criteria, if the player engages in conduct detrimental to the integrity and image of the game of golf and/or public confidence in the WPGA. Such conduct may include but is not limited to, damage to the golf course or the players’ equipment, verbal or physical abuse of spectators,officials, volunteers or staff, blatant and excessive profanity, disorderly behavior, failure to abide by club/course rules or any other unbecoming conduct.
