The Palmetto State’s finest amateur golfers square off in their annual youth-vs.-experience battle in the South Carolina Golf Association’s 87th Annual Amateur Championship on August 2-5, 2018 at Dataw Island Club's Cotton Dike Course. The 72 hole event will include the top golfers in South Carolina and will certainly be the experience of the year while playing the challenging Tom Fazio layout that features water on nearly half of the holes.

Open to male golfers whose 14th birthday is prior to August 2nd and who have a handicap index that does not exceed 10.4. Participants MUST BE RESIDENTS of South Carolina and must be members of the SCGA. Any applicant must have been listed on the club’s handicap roster by June 15th. Qualifying Entry Fee - $125
Successful Qualifier Championship Entry Fee - $80 (automatically charged to players credit card used for Qualifying entry)
Fee includes entry, tournament cart fees, range fees, lunch for three days* and first tee gift.
* - Lunch will be served on Saturday for participants that make the cut.
Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 15, 2018. A player may play in only ONE qualifier. Notice of acceptance will be posted online. If a qualifying location has more players than it can accommodate, some players will be transferred to another location and the date for qualifying may be different than the original requested date. The transfer will be based on the date of receipt of entry application, i.e., entrants filing applications late will be subject to transfer. All transfers are final. No qualifying site is final until after entries close.
USGA rules apply, 18-hole stroke play to determine qualifiers. The number of spots available will be determined by the number of players at each qualifier.
Qualifying Practice Rounds
Players may play ONE PRACTICE ROUND for a fee of $25 - includes range balls and cart rental, if desired.

Tee times for each qualifier will be available at www.scgolf.org on June 21st.
A$25.00 administration fee will be charged for all refunds until the day prior to the Qualifying Date. *Successful qualifiers forfeit their $125 entry fee & will receive a $35 refund between the qualifying and July 25th. No refunds the day of the qualifier or after July 25.
Golf Cart, Caddie & Spectator Policies
Golf Carts: Championship site cart fees will be paid by the SCGA. Competitors have the option to either walk or use a cart during the Championship rounds. Carts will be limited to the minimum number need for each group.
Caddie Policy: Caddies are allowed for the Championship and must be provided the player themselves. Caddies will not be available at the host club.
Caddie & Spectator Policy: During the play of a hole, either the player or his caddie may ride in a golf cart but not both at the same time. Spectators are required to walk and may not ride in an "empty seat".
The field will consist of 2018 qualifiers and exempt players.
All players including those who are exempt from qualifying for the 2018 Championship at Dataw Island, must submit an application by the above June 15th deadline. No exceptions or extensions. Entries are subject to approval or rejection at any time by the SCGA Executive Committee and the host club at their discretion.
The dress code applies to all levels of the Championship. No jeans, cut-offs, or shirts without collars allowed. Contestants in violation may be asked to leave the golf course.
