Member Outings allow SCGA members to participate in SCGA organized non-competitive golf outings. Member Outings focus on increasing the exposure of the SCGA to more golfers, who may not necessarily participate in SCGA Championship events. The SCGA would like Member Outings to be an opportunity for golfers of all skill ranges to enjoy a fun-filled day of golf with friends at an SCGA member golf course that they may not normally have the chance to play.

Events are open to all members (men and women) of all skill levels, who want to participate in no-pressure golf at a premier course. No Handicap Index required. Bring a group of friends or join us as a single and we’ll pair you with some future friends.

The SCGA policy on non-member requests to participate in a Member Outing:

If SCGA Members would like to bring a non-SCGA Member, they will be permitted to do so only if there is room for the non-member after the entry closing date. If there is room in the event for the non-member they will be permitted to play at an additional $30 charge. If the site is at capacity, non-members will not be permitted.

These include, but are not limited to the following:

1) Willful damage of the golf course or golf course property

2) Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing

3) Offensive or unbecoming language

4) Public criticism of golf course or verbal abuse of SCGA staff, officials, volunteers, host club staff or other contestants

5) Potential endangerment of others

6) Conduct deemed unbecoming

Two different style courses means golf members experience an enjoyable variety without ever leaving the club.  Our championship links include a traditional course by the highly acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Jr. and a second, more modern layout by former U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate.

In addition to spectacular golf, these courses treat players to dramatic water features, million-dollar mountain views and the striking beauty of the deep emerald turf against the ever-changing tapestry of desert colors.

The abundance of golf amenities enables us to accommodate players of all skill levels and ages. Each course offers eight different tee combinations ranging from 7063 yards down to 5183 yards.

The driving range and short game area present opportunities to hone your skills. The driving range has six target greens, allowing players to practice all the demanding shots experienced on the course. The facility also provides a chipping green and two putting greens, generous enough in size to host all players.

Established in 1952, Tamarisk Country Club was only the second 18-holeprivate club in the Coachella Valley. The foundation of our club is defined by its rich history and storied traditions that were born in the early days of Rancho Mirage. Known as an oasis for well-known movie stars, producers, studio executives, and entrepreneurs to escape.

Our founding members included Hollywood A-listers in the 1950’s including Danny Kaye, Jack Benny, George Burns, and four of the five Marx Brothers; Groucho, Harpo, Zeppo, and Gummo to name just a few of the select “Golden 65”representing the founding members.

It certainly did not hurt to have one of the greatest golfers of all time, Ben Hogan, as the first Tamarisk Club Professional. Hogan won the Masters, The British Open, and the American Open (now known as the US Open) while actively serving as the Club Pro.

Tamarisk has played host to many political figures including President’s Dwight D. Eisenhower, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Gerald Ford.

Tamarisk was one of the four area clubs to play host to the inaugural Palm Springs Desert Classic in 1960 which would go on to become known as the Bob Hope Desert Classic. Recognized as one of the most popular and well-known celebrity golf tournaments; the Bob Hope Classic was played at Tamarisk 18times. We are very proud of our rich history and the legacy that was forged during those early years.
