2012 IGA Men's Match Play Championship

Eligibility
        Entries are open to amateur golfers who must have an up-to-date Handicap Index® under the USGA Handicap SystemTM. A Handicap Index must be issued from a “golf club” (as defined in the “USGA Handicap System Manual”) which is licensed to use the USGA Handicap System. You must either be a member at an IGA member club, or you must be a bona fide resident of the State of Idaho (e.g., possess an Idaho driver’s license).
Players requesting permission to use items on the List of Equipment Permitted Conditionally for Medical Reasons under Exception 1 to Rule 14-3, please refer to
www.usga.org/equipment/medical/general_guidelines.html for details.
          The IGA may reject an entry application, revoke an accepted application, expel from the Championship and/or suspend a player from future championships if the player engages in conduct detrimental to the integrity and image of the game of golf and/or public confidence in the IGA. Such conduct may include, but is not limited to, damage to the golf course or the player’s equipment, verbal or physical abuse of spectators, officials, volunteers, or staff, blatant or excessive profanity, disorderly behavior, failure to abide by club rules or any other unbecoming conduct.
 
Age:  A player is required to list his age and date of birth on all IGA entry forms.
 
Amateur Status:  All players must conform to the “USGA Rules of Amateur Status.”
 
Entries: Form, Fee, Closing Date, Final Field of Players
          Each player must complete an entry application. Players are encouraged to file online at the IGA website (www.theiga.org).
          Entry fee of $180 must be paid by each player. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if the IGA (208-342-4442) is notified before the close of entries. A $25 service fee charge will be deducted from all refunds.
After the close of entries, fee will not be refunded.


ENTRY APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY IGA

NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2012

Late applications are not acceptable and will be automatically rejected. Time limit for entries means time of receipt at IGA (not time entry is transmitted to IGA). Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and the IGA will have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of the entry.


The field is limited on a first come basis in each Division:

Women’s Division, 8 players, Maximum Handicap Index, 8.0
Men’s Division, 32 players, Maximum Handicap Index, 5.0
Senior Men’s Division, 8 players, Maximum Handicap Index, 8.0

        A waiting list will be maintained as each Division is filled. Wait listed golfers will be prioritized in the order their entry was received.
 
Schedule
  FRIDAY,   June 1:  A.M.  Seeding round (stroke play, 18 holes, shotgun)
    P.M.  First Round, 18 holes, shotgun
 
SATURDAY,  JUNE 2:    A.M.    Second Round, 18 holes, tee times /    Sr & Women; Semifinals
  P.M.  Quarterfinal Round, 18 holes, tee times / Sr & Women; Final
 
SUNDAY,   JUNE 3:    A.M.  Semifinal Round, 18 holes, tee times
  P.M.  Final, 18 holes, tee time
 
        In the event of a tied match, (a) the winner will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off and (b) the stipulated round is deemed to extend to as many holes as are required for a match to be won.
 
Practice Privileges
        Practice rounds will be available for confirmed golfers in the championship field. Call The Valley Club, (208) 788-1441 to make arrangements for a practice round.



Prizes
  WINNER (each Division):  IGA Championship Trophy.
 
Rules of Golf; Close of Competition
          Play will be governed by “The Rules of Golf” as approved by the USGA. Questions will be settled by the on-site Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition is deemed to be closed when the Championship trophy has been presented.
 
Golf Balls; Driver Heads
        Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Golf Balls and driver heads on the most current USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads may be used. Updated lists may be found on the USGA web site at www.usga.org or by contacting the USGA Technical Department at (908) 234-2300. The so-called “One-Ball Rule,” the optional condition prescribed in “Appendix I” of “The Rules of Golf,” will be in effect.
 
Distance Measuring Devices
        Players are allowed to use devices that measure or gauge distance only.


Automotive Transportation is permissible for players only during any stipulated round of the Championship proper.          However, the IGA reserves the right to suspend such automotive transportation due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.  Caddies must walk at all times during a stipulated round
Penalty: See penalty clause for breach of the condition on transportation prescribed in Appendix I of the Rules of Golf.
Cart rental fees will be paid by the player at the host club golf shop, payable to the host club. Only two (2) carts per group/match will be allowed.
 
          Any caddie seeking a golf cart due to a permanent disability as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) should contact the IGA at (208) 342-4442 to obtain information on procedures for submitting such requests. All required information must be submitted to the IGA and be received by the IGA at the time the player’s entry is received. Requests due to temporary injuries or impairments will not be granted.
          Only caddies who have complied with the above procedures and met all of the IGA requirements to demonstrate a permanent disability that prevents the caddie from walking the course will be permitted automotive transportation.
 
Spectators will not be permitted automotive transportation during any stipulated round of the championship.
 
 
Groupings and Starting Times
        Groupings and starting time for the seeding round will be available online at www.theiga.org, starting Monday, May 28, 2012


Registration at The Valley Club
  By 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, eligible players must
1.  Register in person at The Valley Club; or
2.  Any player who will be arriving late should notify the IGA at (208) 342-4442, or at (208) 891-8830; before 6:00 p.m., May 31.
3.  Players who have not registered in person or notified the IGA by 6:00 p.m., May 31 may forfeit their spot in the Championship.
 
Dress Code
        Players must abide by the IGA dress code during practice and championship rounds:  Players attire and personal grooming must be neat in appearance, no blue jeans. Dress code will also apply to caddies. Caddies must wear flat soled shoes (no golf shoes with spikes or alternative spikes).
        Penalty for breach of IGA dress code – player may be required to change clothes, be disqualified from the
Championship, or be suspended from future competitions conducted by the IGA.
