NOTE: IT IS UP TO EACH SCGA CLUB TO DECIDE WHICH FOUR OF THEIR MEMBERS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP. MOST CLUBS HAVE SOME SORT OF TOURNAMENT TO DETERMINE WHO REPRESENTS THEIR CLUB IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP.
ENTRY DEADLINE: August 7, 2013
ELIGIBILITY: Partners representing a club must be members of the same SCGA member club. Up to two teams can represent a member club at regional qualifying and championship proper. All participants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older as of September 30, 2013. The event is open to amateur players with an current handicap index.
ENTRY FEE: $220 per team.
REFUND POLICY: Full refund less $20.00 processing fee if requested prior to closing date. 50% refund after the closing date and 48 hours prior to the event. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
FORMAT/HANDICAPS: The qualifying round will be 18 holes of four-ball net stroke play competition (two-person better ball). Each player receives 90% (men) and 95% (women) of their course handicap. If partners’ course handicaps differ by more than 8 strokes, an additional 10% reduction will be applied to their course handicaps (this is the USGA recommendation).
The lowest index of the last six revisions shall be used during each phase of the competition. If a player’s lowest index of the last six revisions is above an 18.4, he or she will play to an 18.4. In addition, the SCGA Rules & Competitions Committee reserves the right to adjust a player’s and/or a team’s course handicap at any time prior to or during the competition.
CERTIFIED HANDICAP CHAIRPERSON REQUIREMENT
In an effort to continually ensure that all SCGA-sponsored net events are conducted on a level playing field, all participants in any SCGA Net competition, including SCGA Team Play, must be a member of a club that has a certified handicap chair who has successfully completed the SCGA’s certified Handicap Chair program within the last four years. The SCGA’s Certified Handicap Chair program ensures that each participating club contains a handicap chair that is knowledgeable of the duties and responsibilities that go along with being a handicap chair. Players wishing to participate in SCGA net events this year should make sure their club has an SCGA certified handicap chair, and ensure that person’s certification is up to date. Withdrawal prior to the start of a competition:
To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department. During business hours (7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) you may call the Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or withdraw online through your player profile account. Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions.
Withdrawal during an SCGA competition:
All players are expected to complete the competition which they start. Acceptable reasons for withdrawal during a competition are physical injury, illness, or an emergency. Poor play is not an acceptable reason for withdrawal. A player who withdraws without an acceptable reason or without notifying SCGA personnel will be subject to suspension from future SCGA competitions. If a player is aware of a possibility of withdrawal (e.g. injury) he should notify the SCGA as soon as possible and before pairings are announced for the next day.
All players who start a round must return a scorecard personally to SCGA staff or an SCGA official even if they are officially withdrawing. Players who do not follow this policy will be subject to suspension from future SCGA competitions. Players who withdraw also must sign and attest that the hole by hole scores are correct for the fellow-competitor's scorecard they were keeping and return that card to the fellow-competitor or another marker in the group.
PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY
By submitting an entry for any SCGA-administered competition, the contestant understands that his/her participation is at the sole discretion of the SCGA. A contestant may be removed from any competition at the discretion of the SCGA staff or Rules and Competitions Committee at any time before or during the competition. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the SCGA or the “Spirit of the Game” are grounds for such removal and suspension from future SCGA-administered competitions. These include, but are not limited to the following:
1) Willful damage of the golf course or golf course property
2) Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing
3) Offensive or unbecoming language
4) Public criticism of golf course or verbal abuse of SCGA staff, officials, volunteers, host club staff or other contestants
5) Potential endangerment of others
6) Conduct deemed unbecoming
